Victorian Style Conservatories

We have recently changed our name from Ellwood Ltd to C&K Joinery Ltd. You can find our new website at www.candkjoinery.co.uk.

Whether you choose a 3, 5 or even 7 faceted approach to your project, then the angled shape takes on the traditional look of a Victorian era conservatory with a classic ‘bell end’ roof construction.

The Victorians built some spectacular conservatories, originally intended to provide warmth and protection for their collections of exotic plants.

These designs get away from a square approach, give a more interesting roof shape or view and in some cases the angles used can overcome difficult site layouts. However they don’t make absolute best practical use of the floor area/ positioning of furniture in some cases. Also the walls are reasonably expensive to build when that is done ‘properly” using specially angled bricks called “squints”.

The gallery below shows various Ellwood installations including some images of uPVC Victorian designs.
